"Bnai Zion, the American Fraternal Organization, has throughout the years distinguished itself as a group of devoted people who, in addition to steadfast support of the Zionist ideal, have contributed to the welfare and well-being of the State of Israel.  Particularly noteworthy among the projects you have promoted are the Bnai Zion Medical Center and the home for retarded children in Rosh Ha’ayin.  This combination of moral support and charitable deeds is deserving of praise."

Bnai Zion Brings over Half a Million Dollars to OUR Projects in Israel During Our 100TH ANNIVERSARY Mission!

During our 100th Anniversary Mission to Israel from June 23 to July 3 we were able to give over a half a million dollars to our various projects.  Thanks to the generosity of donors both past and present, we were able to provide substantial funds during each tour of our current projects, acquaint mission participants with our life-transforming work and give them first-hand knowledge of each establishment.

There is no better way to commemorate our centennial than to enable our projects to further their vital work and we know they will benefit from these additional funds.

National Awards Dinner Held at Roosevelt Hotel on Sunday, May 18

A large group turned out for our Centennial Celebration Dinner at the Roosevelt Hotel in NY.

The three honorees are shown below, left to right: June Walker, Hadassah Past President and Chairperson of the Conference of Presidents; Jack Grunspan, Bnai Zion Executive Vice-President, and the actress Tovah Feldshuh, recipient of the Ohav Shalom Award.

A new video highlighting Bnai Zion’s hundred years of accomplishments debuted at the dinner (and will soon be available on this website! Please check back soon.)

At Bnai Zion Medical Center, the very first baby born there 86 years ago is a volunteer at the information desk.

Her name is Hadassah - which was the original name of the hospital as established by the Hadassah organization.

Her daughter-in-law is a senior nurse in nursing management there.

Later in the summer there will be a reunion of Israeli citizens originating from Central Europe, who will be coming to visit Ahava.  Among the visitors will be some of the original Ahava children.

The oldest Ahava 'girl' is a 'youngster' of 78 years, and the 'boy' who will visit is 97 years old!

Six Ahava students just participated in a project called 'The One Minutes Jr.'

This is an international UNICEF project that broadcasts personal stories under the guidance of a professional team.

Each story is processed and made into a 60-second movie, in which the child initiating the story writes the script, directs the filming, does the cinematography and edits the short.

In Israel only three groups have participated in this project and Ahava is privileged to be among them.  The movies will be sent to a competition in Europe.
